Culture and History
ICACC offers assistance to indigenous communities and all Australians, providing linkages to various bodies, organisations and individuals who can provide assistance regarding Culture and History.
Within the southern region of Melbourne there are two Indigenous communities:
- Traditional Custodian Community
- Historical Community
The Traditional Custodian Community have expectations relating to land management practises, Native title, smoking ceremonies, welcome to country, development and any activities that impact their country.
ICACC provide contacts for the Traditional Custodian community and promote that all people should pay respects and acknowledge the Custodians of their particular area.
The Historical Community have expectations relating to programs that support health and wellbeing, maternal childcare, housing and education.
ICACC can provide assistance for mainstream service providers including local/State government, private organisations and funded bodies to engage for the purpose of providing vital support programs into the local historical communities.
